Geocache Description:

ANGORA PEAK CACHE
Parking is at a locked gate.  DO NOT BLOCK THE GATE.  YOUR VEHICLE WILL BE TOWED

Angora Peak is a peak located in southern Clatsop County/northern Tillamook County and is named for the Angora Hiking Club.  The Angoras are a hiking club based in Astoria OR and were founded in the 1920’s.  The signature hike of the club is Saddle Mountain.  But Angora Peak is also a yearly hike for the club.
It is a tough hike of 10 miles round trip.  It has everything you ’de want in a hike.  Some really good uphill, some trail hiking and some good bushwhacking.  It is not for the faint of heart, but if you want a good hike with some great views of the ocean and coast range without all the crowds of Saddle Mountain, then this the hike for you.
I made the hike with Geo Dogs and we both placed caches along the way to the top.  But I got the honor of placing the one on the peak because I organized the hike.  We finished the hike with Team GWOOD whom we met just below the summit.  It was funny meeting him there.  He had hiked up there to place a cache on the summit but lost power in his iPhone and wasn’t sure where to go from where he was.  He tagged along with Geo Dogs and I.  As we started out, I asked him if he had heard of geocaching.  Then it all came out that he was a cacher also.  It was an enjoyable hike and visit with him.  We even managed to climb to the summit.  Or at least very close to it.  Close enough for us anyway.
The actual cache details are that it is a small cache, though on the larger size of small.  It is in a stump (what else) covered by a rock.  It shouldn’t be too hard to find once you get to the top.  Getting to the top is a different matter.  I have provided parking coordinates and all the turning points where the trail gets tricky.  Other than that just follow the road uphill going to all the other caches.  Though there are a few that are off the main trail.  And most of all have fun.  That after all is what it is all about.  Enjoy.
