Geocache Description:

Small container with room for a logbook and a few small tradeables or travel bugs. Bring your own writing utensil. Cemetery hours are from dawn to dusk, so no night caching! The easiest place to park is across the street in the parking lot for Christ the King Church, but keep in mind that this is a very active church so Sunday mornings the parking lot may be full.

Welcome to Wayne Baptist Cemetery! This is one of the oldest cemeteries in Knox Cemetery that is still active, with grave stones dating back to the early 1800s. This should be an easy find (please make sure you put it back as found!) but my main reason for putting it here was to bring you to this unique spot. Some of you experienced cachers out there may have found one here before that was archived by the user, so please enjoy the return trip. Be sure to check out some of the interesting stones and inscriptions.

A number of Nortons are buried here. My favorite stone belongs to a young man named David Norton, age 24, who died in 1822. His inscription at the bottom of the stone begins "Drown'd I was, near to this place..." and every time I stop by I wonder about his story. In the end we are all stories, and we all want to be remembered, so while you pick up this cache, remember David Norton and his family that rest here. And then enjoy life by caching with family and friends!

Make sure to obey all cemetery rules and only cache from dawn to dusk. There is no need to walk on any graves to reach the hiding spot. Enjoy!
