Geocache Description:

~*~*~* This Cache Requires The Use Of Some Type Of Boat – Do NOT Attempt To Swim! *~*~*~

Please make sure you are prepared for this cache!
Life jackets are a MUST
Please don’t do this solo – bring at least one safety buddy.

***Special Note*** When the tide is going out the area between the 28St dock & the paper mill (right side if facing island) is especially a place you need to be extra cautious! For whatever reason the swells can get really big & the water moves really fast.

Finding this cache shouldn’t be too tricky once you get close to GZ – the hiding place is pretty obvious. The ground is very unstable at almost every part for this trek. Once you get to the island you will probably encounter super mud – pick your landing spot carefully. Next you will tromp through tall grass – that covers various ditches and holes so don’t just blaze through without looking where you step.

Once you get to the ridge you should be able to follow it to your right until you find a place to get down the other side. (Watch out for pieces of wood and stumps hidden in the tall grass). Now you’ll continue grass marching towards the stream – keeping the water to your right follow this towards the other side of the island. On your left will be some strange structures that are pretty overgrown. You’re looking for the one that has a hose in the water infront of it. BE CAREFUL FOR THE DITCH! It’s good sized and grass covers it well.

Next you’ll want to continue towards the other side of the island by crossing over the small hill to your left (that that strange structures are on). The land here will be marshy and squishy. The grass will also be pretty high. Keep the water to your left/hill to your right and head towards a big tree on the hill infront of you.

There’s a small space beside the tree that you can climb up. Once up there you will see the far side of the island (or as the guys named it, “The Far Side Of The Moon”). From here the terrain is pretty obvious on its dangers. It shifts, breaks, twists, teeters and totters.

Use caution! You should be able to get back just fine following the route you took to get here or you can explore the island at your own risk. Please be mindful there are people that hunt out here sometimes so wearing your oranges might be a good idea. Make sure you are aware of the tides!!! It’s best to get to the island at almost high tide – you will have less mud to walk through. Good Luck!!!
