Greatland Reviewer: Hello:

This cache page has been archived due to the lack of response to one or more prior Reviewer Note(s) about issue(s) with the cache. If the owner would like to have the cache unarchived, please contact me through my profile as soon as possible before another cache gets placed nearby.

Please note that unarchiving a cache page requires it to go through the same review process as a newly proposed cache, using the cache placement guidelines currently in effect.

Geocache Description:

Hong Kong people love to collect stamps from different ages and countries. My geodad and I also love it when we were young. I would like to share some of my collection in this cache, including stamps from Hong Kong, China, Canada, Japan, Korea, Singapore and Thailand. Also, welcome to see other geocachers sharing your stamps here!

Attention: Be stealth!! And also don’t take stamps away!!!

The cache is hidden next to the old Wan Chai post office. The old Wan Chai post office is the oldest surviving post office building in Hong Kong. The building was erected between 1912 and 1913, and opened on 1 March 1915 as the Wan Chai post office. The post office ceased to operate in 1992, after having served the Wan Chai community continuously for 77 years. The post office became a declared monument on 18 May 1990. It is the only building declared as a monument in the Wan Chai area.

Nowadays, the building is operated as an Environmental Resource Centre. There are a touch-screen environmental information system, a reference library, display boards in the Resource Centre. There is also an Environmental Garden whose wall is made of recycled bricks recovered during the refurbishment of the historic building.

Visitors can also take an envelope from the centre as a souvenir. The envelope has a picture of the post office on it.

Opening hours: Mondays to Sundays: 10:00am – 5:00pm.
Closed on Tuesdays and Public Holidays
