Geocache Description:

The cache is not at the above coordinates.   This circular multi gives you a short stroll around the pretty village of Lympstone and should take 20 - 30 minutes. The given coordinates are for Underhill long-stay car-park where you will find the answer to the first question, and the final answer will bring you back close to here. When you have all 9 answers you can work out the coordinates for the cache, which is hidden a short walk away.

Car-parking charges are for 24 hours per day, 7 days per week and payable by cache or parking app. As well as by car, Lympstone is also easily accessible by train on the Avocet line, and by bicycle or on foot via the Exe Estuary Trail. The stroll is on paths and quiet roads, some without pavements, and cobbles and rough surfaces on some paths may cause a bumpy ride for stroller users. Extra care should obviously be taken near the estuary. 1. At Underhill car-park the winter pay up front code is 429X3. (X = A) Walk out of the car park up the ramp in the bottom right corner and via the footpath into The Strand. Turn left.   2. The railway bridge is “ Lympstone 7m XX ch EMT” (XX = BC ) Cross the road and walk up the slope to Lympstone Village Railway Station.   3. Topsham is X and three quarter miles away on the Avocet Line. (X = D) Walk back down the slope and turn right, then right again at the Public Footpath sign beside the pub garden. Follow this short path down to the harbour.   4. The Harbourmaster can be contacted on 01395 273X23  ( X = E) Walk down to the end of the harbour wall with great care, especially when the tide is in!   5. The Lympstone Boat Shelter was reconstructed by fishermen and local helpers in 193X (X = F) Head back towards the sailing club building and keep walking to the right, towards the clock tower that can be seen rising above the cottages.   6. The tower was erected in 18X5 in memory of a lady who was kind to the poor of Lympstone.  (X = G) Walk the few yards back to the path and turn right towards the road. On your right (in summer months) you’ll pass a collection of second-hand books on a cottage window ledge under a small canopy. You can help yourself to books for a charitable contribution via the letter box, or donate books to the pile yourself. On the left-hand corner is a bow-windowed shop.   7. On the wall of the shop is the date 1X69 (X = H) Turn right onto The Strand (no pavement here), passing ‘The Green’ and turn right into Quay Lane. This is the turning beside a very tall lamp-post with a Public Footpath sign pointing down it (make sure you take the left fork here) and walk to the far end where you will see a heavy metal flood-gate with steps that lead down to the beach which you can walk along at low tide.   8. There is a number on a gate here - this will give you J. Walk back along Quay Lane to Sowden Lane and cross over into Pump Lane, a rough stone path that veers to the left and meets Underhill, again there are no pavements at this point. You will see a Primitive Methodist Church in front of you. Turn right along Underhill.   9. The church was built in 1XX3 (X = K) Stay on Underhill, heading straight on towards the railway bridge, pass under it and you’ll see the car-park on your left.   Coords for final cache:   N50 (K-H) (F+C) . (A+E) (D-E) (J-C)   W003 (CxE) (K-B) . (H+C) (E+J) (G-H)     CHECKSUM = 50
