Geocache Description:

‘On the way Up…or On the way Down????’ is a micro traditional cache hidden in one of the many ‘passes’ along the ridge between Highland Valley and Ship Creek Valley. The cache can be accessed from the South Fork Valley trailhead in Highland Valley or from the Arctic Valley Ski Area. Come log the smiley; see all the peaks, valleys and perhaps some of the Alaskan wildlife who use this ‘pass’ from one valley to the other!

‘On the way Up…or On the way Down????’ was placed during a trek for the FTF on Hang on to your hat! . The plan was to make a loop out of it; logging the new and old, and hiding some anew along the way!

The loop started at the South Fork Valley trailhead, up to the FTF, east along the ridge to the next ‘pass’, down into the ‘pass’ to Ever-Green , out to South Fork Crossing at the bridge and then back to the trailhead and georig! The entire trek consisted of 6.66 miles and 2760 feet of vertical.

This smiley can be obtained by following our loop in either direction or by making an out and back along the South Fork Valley trail. However, I would encourage you to make the loop as we did to maximize your caching experience!!!!

This cache is placed under Alaska State Parks Permit No 13-KA-1289 Geocache AK.

CONGRATULATIONS TO 'Farmergang' and '907geogirl' ON THE FTF!!!
