Houston's 1st Travel Bug Bed & Breakfast Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Snoogans: Sadly I'm archiving this cache that I have replaced TWICE and maintained for the last 20 months.

I was asked by a volunteer approver (9Key) to adopt this cache because of its low GC number. The previous owner was not maintaining the cache for whatever reason and did not respond to several emails about it from me and the approver. Jeremy himself approved the adoption.

Long lost owners can replace the container and reactivate this cache if they wish. By groundspeak guidelines, they will have to prove that they can maintain a cache at the location that they haven't visited in over 2 years, before it can be reactivated. I'll be picking up MY ammo can today.

It was their location to begin with and they deserve to have it back. It's a really secure spot for a cache and an ideal place for a travel bug hotel. I commend them on the choice.

It has been fun while it lasted. I would hope that they will leave the online logs intact, since it represents the history of this location.

Previously unknown history of this cache site: The cache was stolen and ransomed by a so called Cache Pirate around November 20th of 2003. I quietly replaced the container and they got bored with their stupid game when I didn't squawk about it online. Cache thieves only have the power to annoy you if you LET them.

Good luck to the new ummmm, old owners.

PS- I NEVER did get any email from them on this matter.

Geocache Description:

Update: Adoption Day 6/09/2003. I have preserved the original text ( ) of this cache and eliminated the hint as there have been nearly 100 visits in just over 2 years of its existence. Its longevity is testament to its excellent placement. (Original text: This cache is well hidden. It's in an ammo can.)

This cache location was formerly known as Casper's 2nd. I would like to formally invite the previous guests back to log another find from the new management. If you do not have a TB to trade; there should be a selection of non-TB items there as well. Thanks to 9Key for the excellent 30 Cal. ammo can and log books that he replaced several months ago. BEWARE: There is a new HINT that will be COMPLETLY USELESS in the field.

This (Casper's 2nd) was my 50th find, my first cache adoption, and one of my favorite cache locations. I have decided to make it over into a travel bug hotel as this city is sorely lacking for these types of caches. (I am about to change that.) I do not wish this to become a travel bug prison though, so any TB that has gone nearly a month in the cache is fair game. I am starting small with only 4 TB's:

The Spiffmeister's: Trolling for Key Chains
The Swinging Friar
Oakley
Pink Lady

RULES OF THE HOUSE for Houston's 1st Travel Bug Bed & Breakfast

1. PLEASE TRADE TB FOR TB UNLESS THE PREVIOUSLY STATED TIME LIMIT HAS PASSED. (3+ WEEKENDS IS A LONG STAY AT ANY B&B)

2. Please clearly log each TB in, and out, in the TB register and online.

3. Take some time and enjoy this semi-secluded spot in an otherwise very busy park. Some might think it's a great spot for a picnic.

4. Remember to Cache IN! Trash OUT!

5. Hide the cache as good as or better than you found it.

6. DO NOT lay the can on its side.

(Original text: The terrain shouldn't be much of a problem, but you won't be able to see the cache even if you're standing right next to it. Look for a great hiding place ... not the cache itself.
It should be pretty obvious when you're within a few feet because there aren't many great hiding places. We hid it well because this area has so much traffic, as you'll see. Please take care in concealing it once you're done.
I'd hate for lots of people to stumble over it by accident. Have fun!!)
