Pine Grove park was, many years ago, a private campground. There was a takeout restaurant and great swimming. The land was later bought by the Mersey Paper Company and set aside as a protected area. The Nova Scotia Rhododendron Society was instrumental in planting many diverse types of " Rhodies" in the park and the display of blooms in the Spring are well worth a visit.
When Bowater, later Resolute Forest Products, closed teh paper mill and put the land up for sale, the future of the park was in doubt. The Province of Nova Scotia purchased the land and transferred it to The Region of Queens to keep it available as a public park.
There are many nice trails in the park and some great views of the plants and river.
