Geocache Description:

C X is a single stage cache placed along a trail in the Carter Beal Recreation Area in Bourne. The park is part of the Herring River Watershed Area of Critical Environmental Concern (ACEC) which contains 11 ponds and lakes, numerous small streams, the area's most notable herring run and is home to a couple of rare and endangered turtle species. The half mile round trip to the cache will take you past the ruins of an old mill, a waterfall, a fish ladder, over a small foot bridge, and down a wooded trail past a small pond to GZ. There are interesting ruins and stone structures to explore, a small grassy picnic area and a parking lot memorial to check out. Several other caches are nearby, including a couple in the wooded dune hillsides and one you may need a kayak to reach. The cache itself is small, about the size of an egg, blends in well, and contains only a log BYOP. Depending on the water level, you may get your toes wet. Have fun hunting for it.
