Geocache Description:

One of several caches that can be located on a lovely walk around Hambledon peninsula part of Rutland Water. Placed by The Stamford Kips and adopted by TeamFizz in February 2016 Roadside parking can be found in Upper Hambledon, or at the end of the road N52 39.055 W000 38.454

When the Gwash Valley was dammed in 1975, the area surrounding what was then a ridge were submerged, including a small number of properties in the hamlets of Nether Hambleton and Middle Hambleton. The village of Upper Hambleton survived, and now sits on the peninsula, which is some 3500 metres in length and 1000 metres in width. The area of the peninsula lies in the parish of Hambleton with the exception of a small detached area of Exton parish on the north shore. The Hambleton Peninsula and its surroundings feature heavily in British author Robert Goddard´s fictional mystery thriller Set in Stone (1999)
This is a micro cache and has no room for swaps. You will need tweezers to extract the log. We have done this walk with the mobility scooter, but as there are some quite steep hills and the path can be muddy in places a tramper type mobility scooter may be best.
