Geocache Description:

Disguised well enough to go unnoticed by muggles, you should have no problem finding this one.  There is no need to look on the chain link fence surrounding the water tower which is off limits.

When I started Geocaching, I heard that when you place a cache that either the cache should be interesting in some way or it should take you to an interesting location.  Well, this one was placed with the later in mind.

The city of West Carrollton wanted to spruce up the water tower.  After three years of discussion and fundraising, the city received a $ 4,166 grant from the Montgomery County Arts & Cultural District (MCACD), as well as financial and in-kind donations from dozens of local organizations and individual contributions.   The mural committee suggested that Eric Henn use the iconic ‘Five Modes of Transportation’ photo as the basis for the mural. The 1914 photo, attributed to “Ripley’s Believe It or Not” magazine, showed what was thought to be the only place in the country where the river, canal, interurban, train, and highway came together.  “We hope the mural will celebrate the heritage of the community, and will become a distinctive landmark helping to define the city’s image and identity,” said Greg Gaines, West Carrollton's planning director.
