Snežnik (oz. Veliki Snežnik - 1796m) je najvišji vrh snežniške planote in južne Slovenije. Gologlavec, ki se dviga nad deželo medvedov, volkov in risov ima za Primorce poseben pomen. Razgled z njega seže od Kvarnerskega zaliva in slovenskega morja ter vse do Alp in Ljubljane. Tik pod vrhom je prijazna Koča Draga Karolina. Del snežniške planote je vključene v naravni rezervat Notranjski Snežnik.
Najpogostejše izhodišče za vzpon na Snežnik je simpatični zaselek počitniških hiš (Sviščaki), do koder je pozimi cesta splužena. Na Sviščake nas iz Ilirske Bistrice vodi deloma asfaltirana cesta, ki nas v ostrih zavojih dviga nad bistriško kotlino. Po približno 10 km se gozd razmakne, peljemo se po pravi kraški pokrajini, med travo so posejane skale, brin in ruševci. Odpira se vedno lepši razgled, oko seže do Učke in morja.
Pridemo do nadmorske višine, za katero Slovenci (pa mogoče še tudi kak drug narod) v šali trdimo, da nad njo ni več greha. Seveda je tu mišljeno, da ni greh ukrasti poljub (ali še kaj več) svoji dami. Res je, to ni greh.
Je pa greh, če ne bi stopili iz avta, zadihali svež zrak in uživali ob pogledu na valovito pokrajino pod nami. Sprehod z roko v roki po tej prelepi pokrajini bo vsekakor polepšal dan. Vendar pazljivo, ne pregloboko v gozd, da vas ne preseneti kakšen medvedek. In pa seveda, brez trganja rož. Kajti, uničevati to lepoto – to bi pa bil greh.
Description:
Snežnik (Veliki Snežnik – 1796m) is the highest peak in Snežnik plato situated in South Slovenia. His rocky peak, dominating over the land of bears, wolfs and lynxs has a special importance for the locals. From its top you can see from Bay of Kvarner and Slovenian sea to the Alps and Slovenian capital Ljubljana. Just beneath the top there is a mountain hut. Part of Snežnik plato is included in protected natural reserve.
Starting point to hike to Snežnik is a small village of holiday cottages named Sviščaki. From Ilirska Bistrica (20 km) you can drive there on partly asphalted road climbing from Bistrica valley. After about 10 km you arrive to first nice view point, from which you can enjoy sights from the sea to the Alps.
Then you arrive to the point above see level, from which Slovenians (and probably some other nations, too) claim, that there you can not commit a sin. Of course, it means, that there is no sin, if you steel a kiss (or even something more) from your lady. Yes, it is true - it is not s sin.
But, it is a sin, if you don't get out from the vehicle, breathe in a fresh air and enjoy your view. Walking with hand in hand on this beautiful landscape will surely make your day even more memorable. But, be careful – do not go too deep into the forest, you could be surprised by a bear. And, of course, don't pick any flowers. Because, to ruin this beauty – that surely would be a sin. Capital sin.
