To celebrate International Geocaching Day 2013, let's have a picnic in Low Bradfield. It's a beautiful village just inside the Peak National Park, but still in Yorkshire. We'll be there from 11am til approximately 3pm.
The co-ordinates are for the picnic area beside the stream and the bridge. There’ll be a few new caches in the area for those feeling energetic or you can relax and watch the local cricket team or just come along for a good old get-together and put the geocaching world to rights.
Please note the picnic area is also home to the local duck population. PLEASE DO NOT FEED THE DUCKS.
Geokids are encouraged to bring well-behaved parents, grandparents and older/younger siblings, but please remember a stream and small river run through the picnic site. There is a children’s playground on The Sands next to the car park.
Geohounds are welcome provided they are on a lead and respect the ducks. PLEASE NOTE – dogs are not allowed on the Ibbotson Field (Cricket Field)
The event log book will be at the picnic site, but you can picnic on the Ibbotson Field if you wish. For those who prefer not to picnic, there is a café at the Post Office (Woodfall Lane) and the Old Schoolrooms Deli and Café is across the road from the picnic site. Unfortunately, at the time of publishing, the Plough Inn is closed for refurbishment. STOP PRESS: Now open and serving food!
There are few parking restrictions in the village, but please park considerately. If the car park is full, I would recommend using New Road by the Plough Inn.
Low Bradfield also has a regular bus service, No 61/62.
