Another cache located in Silverdale Country Park. The park is on the site of the former Silverdale Colliery, the last deep coal mine in North Staffordshire. The mine closed on Christmas Eve 1998 after a long history of mining on the site. The mine opened in 1830 and initially also mined ironstone. The coal and ironstone were used by the nearby forge.
There are fantastic views (on a nice day) over Newcastle and Stoke towards the Peak District.
Parking can be found on Cannel Row on Silverdale Enterprise Park, in the village near the church (you can access the park from behind the church) or on High Lane off Black Bank Road. Most of the paths are good, although some of the paths in the park can get muddy.
LOG ETIQUETTE: Geocache hiders sometimes go through a great deal of planning to place their caches. As a result, they'd like to hear your feedback on whether you liked or disliked any aspect of the hide, or if you feel that some cache maintenance is required. Single word, acronym, or emoticon logs may be easier when you have a lot of caches to log, but it doesn't tell the hider or other finders anything about your adventure (or lack thereof) in finding the cache. Please keep this in mind when entering your log.
