Geocache Description:

The beautiful and historic Lava Tree State Park

Another pill bottle in the Little B's park series, this one is located just inside the Lava Tree State Park. Little B just had to have a hide here even though his brother was planning on putting one here, so we had to cave and let them both do one, knowing that they needed to be at least 0.10 miles away from each other.

Lava Tree State Park has been around since Mommy B was a kid. I remember coming here when I was little with my parents and now I get to share that with my children.  At that time it was barely more than a trail and now it has great facilities and is well kept.  While there is no playground here, there is a wonderful paved trail for walkers, joggers or casual strollers through the park and it has some really beautiful trees, plants and flowers as you go along the trail.  There are also benches to stop and rest. Although it is not a long trail, these rest stops are nice to sit and enjoy the park.

The unique part of this park is the story behind the "Lava Trees" that are all along the trail.  Read up on how they were developed by nature and how fascinating to see that they continue to stand tall after over 200 years!  The Lava Tree State Park is known for its “lava trees”—actually tree molds that were formed when a lava flow swept through this forested area in 1790. (For more information see related webpage.)

Have fun! There is a small FTF prize for the one who finds it.
