The hotel building is 102 years old. It is an old fashioned and quirky, comfortable country hotel.
In the same block there is also a guesthouse, a lovingly restored sandstone house, 105 years old.
Kestell is a very quiet little dorpie in the Eastern Free State.
It is great for a weekend getaway, hiking, motor-biking, bird watching, fishing or cycling.
It could be considered an ideal stopover for business people, travelling between Bethlehem, Harrismith & Reitz on the road to Phuthaditjhaba (each about 30 minute’s drive).
Nearby tourist attractions include Clarens, the Golden Gate, Lion’s Rock & Sterkfontein Dam.
When you get to the listed co-ordinates you will need to utilise about 2l of water to access information on how to proceed. You will have to bring your own bottle of water.
