A series of 18 caches placed for the EMcamp 2013 camping event. The caches in this series were placed with kind permission from the Head National Trust Ranger for the White Peak area.
For general information about the series and route please see EC13#1 (GC4E130)
While researching this area we discovered that Thor's Cave, a mile to the South of here, was used as a location in the 1988 Ken Russell film The Lair of the White Worm. This is the nearest of our film-themed caches to Thor's Cave, so we pay tribute to it here!
This cache is a nice sized Regular lock-n-lock container - please be careful when replacing the rocks so as not to damage the box.
The path is wheelchair accessible but assistance will be needed to retrieve the cache itself.
After this cache, cyclists, wheelchair users and parents with strollers can continue as far as Wetton Mill where there is a cafe, as the series from #13 onwards is only accessible on foot. To visit the cafe, turn right at the farm and it is a very short distance along the road. The return route for wheels is back the way you came (cyclists may also use the road on the other side of the river). To continue without visiting the cafe, turn left at the farm and head through the farmyard to the gate leading into the shallow dale.
