La strada delle 52 gallerie (o strada della Prima Armata) è una mulattiera militare costruita durante la prima guerra mondiale sul massiccio del Pasubio. La strada si snoda fra Bocchetta Campiglia (1.216 m) e le porte del Pasubio (1.934 m) attraversando il versante meridionale del monte, situato al riparo dal tiro dell'artiglieria austro-ungarica, caratterizzato da guglie, gole profonde e pareti rocciose a perpendicolo.

È un percorso tuttora percorribile a piedi nel periodo estivo, identificato dal segnavia 366. È vietato percorrerla in bicicletta, in seguito a numerosi incidenti mortali (contrariamente alla molto più sicura rotabile strada degli Eroi in val Fieno). Questo percorso viene ritenuto interessante sotto vari punti di vista, a partire da quello paesaggistico a quello storico e ingegneristico. Il dislivello è di circa 750 metri, la partenza del percorso è presso il parcheggio a pagamento di Bocchetta Campiglia e la salita fino al Rifugio Papa dura 3 ore e mezza. È necessario avere con sé la torcia elettrica per poter agevolmente superare le parti maggiormente oscure delle gallerie oltre che a prestare attenzione nell'inizio di primavera poiché è possibile trovare ancora neve. È possibile scendere per la Scarubbi che riporta al parcheggio.

Die Strada delle 52 Gallerie, auch Strada della Prima Armata, ist eine der bekanntesten und heute meistbesuchten italienischen Militärstraßen des Ersten Weltkrieges. Sie wurde erbaut, um die Stellungen der Alpini auf dem Pasubio im Stellungskrieg in den südlichen Dolomiten zu versorgen.

Sie beginnt an der Bocchetta di Campiglia in 1216 Metern Höhe und führt zur Porte del Pasubio auf 1928 m. Die „Straße“ weist eine Gesamtlänge von 6300 m auf, von denen rund 2300 m in den namensgebenden 52 Tunneln (ital. galleria) verlaufen. Die Steigung der Straße liegt bei bis zu 22 Prozent, wobei eine durchschnittliche Steigung von zwölf Prozent bewältigt wird. Aufgrund der Nutzung von Tragtieren zur Versorgung der Stellungen und dem Transport von schwerem Gerät (beispielsweise Teilen von Artilleriegeschützen) wurde der Weg mit einer Mindestbreite von 2,2 m ausgelegt. Für den Aufstieg auf das Plateau werden gut zweieinhalb Stunden benötigt. Bitte beachten: Nach mehreren schweren Unfällen und einem tödlichen Absturz wurde die Straße für Mountainbiker gesperrt.

The Strada delle 52 Gallerie (Road of 52 tunnels) (or Prima Armata – the First Army) is a military mule built during World War I on the massif Pasubio in Veneto, Italy. The road winds between Bocchetta Campiglia (1,216 m) and the Porte del Pasubio (1,934 m) crossing the southern slope of the mountain, located away from the Austro-Hungarian artillery fire, with its spiers, deep canyons and sheer rock faces.

It is 6,555 meters long, of which 2280 are divided into 52 tunnels excavated in the rock, each gallery is numbered and characterized by a particular name. The minimum width of 2.20 m was originally intended to allow the transit of contemporary two mules with their baggage. This is certainly an interesting walk from various points of view, from the landscape to the historical and engineering. Note that it is prohibited by bike, following a number of fatal accidents (as opposed to the much safer Scarubbi of rolling stock and Val Fieno above).
