You are looking for a lock ‘n lock container painted Army green. It includes some fun swag, and I THINK it contains a newly launched Travel Bug dedicated to my dad. I say, “I THINK” because I hid so many caches today, I don’t remember for sure which one I put the TB in.
In looking at the Geocaching Map recently, I noticed that although there are an abundance of caches on the west or airport side of Boone Lake, there are very few on the east or Piney Flats side. This series will attempt to remedy that situation.
I found this area when attempting to log a FTF on a nearby island cache. Although I failed in my quest for that cache, I hid the first in this series that day. Now I have returned to hide some more.
I am posting parking coordinates for the access point to this area. You will want to do some homework before you leave to determine the driving route. Parking for two or three vehicles is at a gate beyond which motorized vehicles are prohibited.
BackWoodsAng is a local cacher who has done more to get me off the couch and out in the woods hunting geocaches than any other. He has introduced me to some great spots in our area that I would never have visited otherwise.
This cache is hidden near the spot where BackWoodsAng conquered high grass, fierce thorns, “crazy insane dense woods”, and the waters of Boone Lake to avenge my DNF on the cache that spawned this series. At the time of this hide, I’ve not met him in person, but am eternally grateful to him for inspiring me to get out and explore this great area we live in.
A bonus cache is hidden that will be accessible only to those who have found numbers one thru eight in the TOSOBL series.
