This cache is hidden along the North Olympic Discovery Marathon's route from Sequim to Port Angeles. The container is a camouflaged pill bottle. Bring your own writing instrument.
The North Olympic Discovery Marathon takes place the first Sunday of June every year. The race starts in Sequim, loops around for a few miles, then picks up the Discovery Trail and takes it all the way to Port Angeles. For anyone who runs the race, surely no stretch of the Discovery Trail will seem quite the same again.
This cache is hidden near mile 12. (Note that this does not correspond with the mileposts on the trail!) Mile 12 has the potential for happy memories, as the well-trained runner hasn’t gotten too tired yet, and this stretch of the route is fairly easy. On the other hand, the first-time marathoner may be questioning their sanity as they approach the halfway mark and are realizing that means they have to do everything they just did—again!
