2013 AHHCC - Brickyard Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

AlbanyVisitorsAssoc: I'm sorry to see this one go. It's been a very popular cache, a great location and a wonderful container with lots of "goodies." Unfortunately for the cache, the property owners are moving. Fortunately for them, it's a good move. Perhaps they will see fit to hide a new cache at their new location.

Geocache Description:

Congratulations to cherryberrygurl for "FTF" honors!

THE CACHE
One of the early industries in Albany was the making of bricks and tile. Albany had its own brickyard, built around 1880 by J.S. Morgan, and incorporated in 1912 as the Albany Brick and Tile Company. Located in East Albany, just south of Highway 99E, the plant produced 864,000 bricks, 78,000 drain tile and 75,000 building tile over the two year period of 1945 and 1946. For more information about the brickyard, see the report by John Eliot Allen, March 10, 1947. The only remaining evidence of the plant that we were able to find, is the plant managers house, located on NE Salem Avenue. The construction material for this home is a double row of brick seconds from the plant which also serves as the home’s insulation. The cache is located within sight of this home.

This cache is placed with the owners person. Please be respectful of the property and limit your caching to daylight hours.

Please park along Fulton Street. Parking on Salem Avenue is prohibited.
