Geocache Description:

Traditional cache near prehistoric petroglyphs on the John Day River in Oregon.

We hid this cache along Oregon's John Day River, a nationaly registered wild and scenic river. Potlatch Canyon enters the John Day at this location and has a splendid display of prehistoric petroglyphs. You will need a raft, canoe or drift boat to reach this location. The cache is situated at the base of basalt cliffs on the east side of the river. We have been floating the John Day for over thirteen years and are pleased to add to the geocache community with this cache. Please be respectful of the petroglyphs and imagine your own vision quest at this inspiring place. We left several bass flies and can assure you that they have been used with great success on our trips. If you have a fly better than these please leave one for me in the cache and I will try it out next year.
