View from Below Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Knagur Green: Believe the previous two finds are actually illegal virtual finds from these cachers, as the cache is not there and they the same log appears on multiple finds on disabled missing caches.
Archiving due to lack of maintaining and no CO response to my disable 3 months ago.

Geocache Description:

Most of the amazing views gained from caching in Cyprus are from great heights, and many of them include an almost aerial view of the salt lake, this view is from the other end of the lens and is probably the best unobstructed view on the island of the entire Troodos massif.

Akrotiri salt lake is the largest inland body of water by surface area on the island of Cyprus.

It lies due south-east of the sprawling city of Limassol and measures 10.65 km². Its lowest point is 2.7 meters below sea level and at its deepest point the water depth measures about one meter.Geologists hypothesize the lake was formed over the gradual joining of an offshore islet off the southern coast of Cyprus.

The lake itself is considered to be one of the eastern Mediterranean region’s most important wetlands. The fact that the water level over 50 percent of the lake is less than 30 centimeters deep attracts thousands of wading birds to use it as a stopover during the migration seasons between Africa and Europe. Birdlife International estimates that between 2,000 and 20,000 Greater Flamingos (Phoenicopterus roseus) spend the winter months on the lake.

The Troodos mountain range was caused by the African plate being pushed under the European plate causing the European one to crumple up a bit exposing lots of ophiolite and intact pillow lavas which get geologists very excited I’m told.

The highest point in the middle with the single ‘golf ball’ on it is Mount Olympos at 1,952 metres (6,404 ft). To the West  you can see the cliffs below Kourion Roman Amphitheatre with Anogyra in the mountains above and on a clear day to the East you can see the aerials near Parekklisia.
