Arcen (in het Arcens dialect, Árse genoemd) is een oud, voormalig vestingstadje gelegen aan de meest oostelijke bocht van regenrivier De Maas. Er werd toentertijd veel handel gedreven en het dorp was een belangrijke schakel naar het achterland. Sinds 2010 is het een van de kernen van de gemeente Venlo.
Vanaf midden vorige eeuw is Arcen een levendig toeristendorpje met een historisch centrum, dat door de prachtige ligging aan Mooder Maas, altijd weer duizenden toeristen trekt, zeker in de zomermaanden. De Kasteeltuinen, een eigen bierbrouwerij, graanbranderij de IJsvogel, prachtige Monumentale gebouwen zoals het oude Gemeentehuis, de Wijmarsche Watermolen en de Schanstoren, gezellige terrasjes aan het Marktplein, sfeermarkten, braderieën en festivals, heerlijk ijs, noem maar op, ze hebben het al!
De omgeving van Arcen is rijk aan natuur, cultuur en historie. Al met al, er is genoeg te doen in dit pittoresk dorpje, een bezoek waard!
Arcen (in Arcens dialect, called Árse) is an old, former fortified town, situated on the most Easterly curve of rainriver De Maas. There was at that time lot of trade and the village was an important link to the hinterland. Since 2010 it is one of the centers of the municipality of Venlo.
