Geocache Description:

The Running Well  - a simple cache placed to take you this enchanting area.

The Running Well is a natural spring and has been called by some The Holy Well.
Artifacts found around the Well date back some several thousand years.
There are several local legends surrounding this well and below is one and this is quoted from redguzziv10 's now archived cache with his kind permission.
Legend has it that during the Middle Ages, a Nunnery stood at the top of the hill. When a horde of soldiers attacked and pillaged the area, a single nun escaped on a white horse to the Holy Well. She hid there but was eventually found, raped and then murdered.
Several witness accounts have told of a ghostly apparition of a nun on a white horse.
Is it true??
Judge for yourself...
Please note the terrain for this cache as it is placed at the top of the bank and may become slippery when wet. The cache is best approached from the East and follow the footpath, along the field and through the hedge to GZ. Congratulations to the intrepid DRC1808 for his epic FTF!!!
