MONICO
The village of Monico is located in Oneida County. The village is located at the junction of Highway 8, 45, and 47. Monico has a long history of being a transportation junction. When railroads were more common in this part of Wisconsin, Monico was the junction for the Chicago and Northwestern Railroad. The main line from Milwaukee split, with one line going to Watersmeet Michigan and the other line going to Ashland, Wisconsin. The train depot that once served Monico and the surrounding area now has its home near the Senior Center in Rhinelander.
