1779 – American Revolutionary War: The Great Siege of Gibraltar begins.
1974 – The Beach Boys' greatest hits album "Endless Summer" was released.
2009 – After going “hiking” for seven days, South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford admitted that he had secretly flown to Argentina to visit his mistress.
2013 - The Chicago Blackhawks win the Stanley Cup for the second time in 4 years!!
