This series of caches is being placed in honor of my wife, McCallBennett, for her 40th birthday. The locations of the caches are significant to one or both of us and relate to our relationship from meeting to over eight years of marriage. Happy birthday, babe!
She almost got into a fight...
with a dude!
Another early date for us was to the Hollywood Park Race Track to play the ponies. It was a good time even though we didn't win anything. After the races, Bow Wow Wow played a concert essentially in the parking lot. I remember their drummer had this really tall mohawk that started out totally rad, and slowly drooped more and more as the concert progressed till it was totally sad. I'm not a huge fan of Bow Wow Wow, but who doesn't love “I Want Candy”?
Anyway, at one point during the show a guy standing in front of us said the wrong thing, the wrong way, to his girl. Frustrated that no one was defending her, McCall decided SHE'D do something about it. So she gets all up into this guy's face about how a "real man" treats a lady, all the while understanding the golden rule of dating: if a woman starts a fight with a man, her date has to step in for the actual fisticuffs. I did manage to pull her away before it escalated, but for a split second, I really thought she was going to haul off and punch him at which point I knew I'd be 'obligated' into a fist fight with a total stranger. A bigger, meaner stranger. After such a close call so early in a relationship, you might think I'd have misgivings about this woman. Oh no, not I. Red flag, you have been duly ignored, my friend.
The cache is a standard sized plastic ammo box. Original contents include two travel bugs. We know this is not a popular part of town, but we're hoping this can serve as a nice TB hotel relatively close to LAX to serve those travel bugs with long distance goals.
