Central Park Sydney Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

smirkwood: I came by to check if the new cache was indeed there. It wasn't. And in that moment I decided to be real and admit that geocaching isn't my focus these days and I have thus taken the decision to call it a day here and clear the area up for others. Thanks for the memories!

Geocache Description:

This cache is my first city hide, inspired by a trip to a hip new cafe on Abercrombie Street. It would be cool if you took a photograph of the developments and post it here so we can follow the progress of the park's construction. You could even have a look through past photos and copy others' viewpoints to get some sort of a timelapse happening, that'd be cool!

I hope the coordinates are somewhat correct... It was hard with the big buildings and the fact that the satellite images available on the internet are not current. If you're really stuck, look at the generous clue.

Suggestions/instructions for you:
1. Be discreet, there are already a few muggles hanging around to have a gander.

2. There are places to lounge in the sun, lots of benches, and even facilities to have a BBQ!
3. I recommend parking on Abercrombie St as it's larger than the other streets and free on the left side. Just remember it's a one-way street - look at the waypoint.
4. I would really appreciate it if you took a photo and upload it - that way we could all track the developments of the park!
5. BYOP!
6. Happy caching :)

From the Central Park Sydney website (http://www.centralparksydney.com/about-the-project/):

Central Park is set to become an icon of 21st Century living, helping Sydney stake a claim as one of the world’s great urban destinations. Spectacularly located 'downtown', at the southern edge of the CBD, Central Park is a $2 billion urban village with a beautiful, spacious park at its heart – an exceptional destination for living, working, meeting friends, shopping, dining out and relaxing.

With 11 buildings, around 2,000 apartments and a lively collection of shops, cafes, restaurants, laneways, terraces and offices, Central Park transforms the old Kent Brewery in Chippendale into an intelligent interplay of buildings and public spaces, and raises the benchmark for sustainable living globally.

Designed by a world-leading team of architects in Sydney, London, Paris and Copenhagen, Central Park is inspired by the people of Sydney, and its spacious, landscaped gardens welcome nearby communities into its heart. Upon completion, Sydney will realize its destiny as a city of unrivalled beauty, iconic architecture, and high sustainability standards.

As Australian artist Lloyd Rees once said, “A city is the greatest work of art possible”. This has never been more true than at Central Park, which enlarges our sense of what’s possible – now and in the future.
