Florida's Got No Style??? Multi-Cache

This cache has been archived.

lorriebird: How very sad today to realize that Florida's Got No More Style. [:(]

Went out today to replace stage three. When we arrived at the lake we saw that no less than 6 shiny new 'Private Property' signs had been posted all around the lake by the nearby housing development.

Of course, if the development owns the property then they have every right to post it off limits to the public. But the beautiful lake and trees are outside the development along Immokalee road and I have watched for many years as walkers, bikers from the nearby path, Moms with strollers and hot tired construction workers (who stopped at 7-11 for a drink) sit down next to the lake and enjoy a few minutes of shade and beautiful views. Never once had I seen anyone damage the property or leave even a trace of litter behind.

Oh well.

ZSteve and I picked up all the stages today, including the full size ammo can that has been awaiting geocachers for more than 9 (!) years to reward them for completing an urban multi. Yes, this cache started off in January 2007 as 'Keep Your Chin Up' and then reconfigured to 'Stylin' when the exercise equipment around the lake was removed.

It has been a great run and I have enjoyed some wonderful logs and photos posted by finders. I have appreciated them very much. Thank you all. [^]

Goodbye, little multi. Thanks for 9 great years!

Geocache Description:

Who says Florida's Got No Style?

Why, sure we do! ...and you will see several styles today while completing this cache!

Are you new to Geocaching or visiting South Florida on vacation? If so, then this multi-cache may be for you! Sometimes it's tough to go geocaching in a different area when you may be unfamiliar with local hiding methods and concealment styles. And if you are new to Geocaching, I hope this cache will help give you the confidence to tackle some tougher caches. After all, what exactly does 'Florida style' mean anyway?

This 6 (yes, 6!) stage multi cache is centered around a small lake. The total hiding area is also small so you can park once and walk all the stages easily. Don't let the number of stages scare you away, you can complete this cache in around an hour or so.

The stages are all hidden in popular local styles that you may or may not have seen before. Check the hints if you need help on a stage but they are true spoilers so don't ruin your fun by making it too easy! The final stage is a regular size ammo can. (Hooray! A real live urban ammo can! ...which by the way is difficult to hide in an urban setting so PLEASE conceal it well after you are finished)

I hope you have fun and welcome to Florida Geocaching!

Stage One: Juhar

Stage Two: Florida Style for Micros

Stage Three: A Hard Place

Stage Four: Root of the Problem

Stage Five: Go Ape

Stage Six (Final): UPS

Important!!!!! If you park at the nearby 7-11, you MUST ask permission to park as the area is under surveillance. They will allow you to park there so you can 'stroll around the lake for a bit' but please ask first!
