Geocache Description:

You are searching for a regular size ammo can hidden just off the Cougar Trail in the outer reaches of Coonskin Park.  This trail connects the area near the park entrance with picnic shelters along the ridge road loop (linear distance approx. 1.15 miles).

There are a couple different possible approaches to the cache location.  Suggested parking is in the Railroad Club lot, located on the right just before entering the park gate (coordinates provided).  The trailhead for Cougar Trail is located immediately behind the building.  From this end the trail is easy to follow and in good condition, but will necessitate a moderately vigorous climb in order to reach the top of the ridge.  My 7 year old had no difficulty traversing the terrain on this trail, but I've rated it as three stars based on the initial uphill section in combination with the hike length.

Another possible approach is from the north end of the Cougar Trail near the picnic shelters located along the ridge road at approximately N 38 23.32, W 81 34.15.  This route will be a little longer than the one suggested above but will also be considerably flatter.
