St. Vigil
Versteckt in der Schlucht des Frötschbaches und doch in zentraler Lage zwischen Kastelruth und Völs, liegt der kleine Ort St. Vigil.
Man muß dieses Dörfchen schon eigens suchen gehen, um es zu finden. Denn sein höchstes Gebäude, die Kirche, würde zwar aus dem Tal des Frötschbaches herausragen, doch die umgebenden Bäume verdecken die Turmspitze. Die Streusiedlung mit zahlreichen Bauernhöfen zählt rund 100 Einwohner verteilt auf einem Gebiet von etwa 4 km2.
Neben der Kirche zum Hl. Vigil hat die Ortschaft noch einige weitere Highlights zu bieten. Den Golfplatz, der östlich der Siedlung in Richtung Seis steht, die Ruine Aichach und der Kräuterhof Pfleger, die sich an der Straße nach St. Oswald befinden, sowie die Malenger Mühle, die auch besichtigt werden darf, bilden die kleinen Schätze dieses nur auf den ersten Blick unscheinbaren Ortes im Kastelruther Gemeindegebiet.

San Vigilio
Nascosto tra i boschi della valle del rio Freddo si trova il paesino di San Vigilio, in una posizione strategica tra Fiè e Castelrotto.
Per trovare il paese di San Vigilio, bisogna proprio mettersi a cercarlo. Solo così è possibile raggiungere la chiesa, nascosta tra gli alberi della valle del rio Freddo, che dallo Sciliar scende verso la Valle Isarco. La sua posizione protetta, a poca distanza dai campi da golf di Siusi allo Sciliar, sembra procurare al piccolo insediamento un velo di esclusività. Spostandoci dalla chiesa verso ovest, ci avviciniamo alle fattorie poste sul versante soleggiato della piccola valle. In tutto, San Vigilio conta circa 100 abitanti.
Sulla piccola strada per Sant’Osvaldo passiamo dall’antico mulino Malenger alle rovine di Castel Rovereto (Aichach) e a maso Pfleger con il giardino aromatico. Questi sono solo alcuni dei piccoli tesori che questa frazione di Castelrotto ha conservato fino ai nostri giorni.

San Vigilio
Hiding in the ravine of the Rio Frötsch river, San Vigilio is located in central position between Castelrotto and Fiè allo Sciliar.
Undoubtedly you have to search this village in order to find it. Even if its highest building, the church, would protrude from the ravine of the Rio Frötscher, but the surrounding trees cover its steeple-top. However, the scattered settlement of San Vigilio comprises several farms, has got some 100 inhabitants and covers an area of about 4 sq km.
Beside the San Vigilio church, the village offers some more highlights, such as the golf course that can be found in the east end of the village towards Siusi, the ruin of Castel Aichbach and the Kräuterhof Pfleger (herb farm) on the road to San Osvaldo, and last but not least the Malenger mill that can also be visited. These are little jewels of the village that seems to be unimposing at first sight.
