V.O. - Original Version

V.O.
Eleven screens, some with a lengthy tradition, make the Spanish capital the country´s leading original version cinema venue. They offer audiences films in their original version, extending the city´s cultural options, and making Madrid a mecca for many film buffs. Despite their difficult beginnings, these cinemas have managed to win themselves an audience through the variety and quality of their programming.

Although cinemas showing films in their original version enjoy an increasingly wide audience, the most regular cinema-goers are aged between 18 and 30. True film enthusiasts, they prefer to see the work in its original language, feeling that by hearing the voices of the performers themselves they get a better grasp of what the director wanted to express in the production, and a greater insight into the work of both scriptwriters and actors. This group also includes many young people who are learning a foreign language, or who already speak one, and who find in V.O. films the chance to improve their skills.

Another major sector of the audience is made up of people from other cities in Spain who take the chance while in Madrid for the weekend to catch an original version film which they cannot see in their home town. Another of the advantages offered by these cinemas, for both Madrid locals and tourists, is that they offer the chance to see films which have long since disappeared from the "now showing" list.

Although over recent years original version cinemas have begun to feature some of the big box office successes from Spain and overseas, their main attraction is that they show alternative cinema which is difficult to find in traditional venues focusing more on commercial releases, but which have enjoyed success at major film festivals.

The cache
The cache is homemade and is located in an area with many muggles, outside the cinema. Please use your discretion to avoid it being lost. You may need to use tweezers to extract the logbook. Please replace the logbook well in its bag and container.

Once salas, algunas de ellas de gran tradición, convierten a la capital en la ciudad española de referencia en el cine en versión original. Ofrecen a los espectadores películas en versión original, ampliando así la oferta cultural y de ocio de la ciudad y convietiendo a Madrid en el punto de encuentro de muchos cinéfilos. Aunque los comienzos fueron difíciles, estas salas han sabido ganarse su público con la variedad y la calidad de su cartelera.

A pesar de que las salas de cine en versión original cuentan con un público cada vez más amplio, los espectadores más habituales son los jóvenes entre 18 y 30 años. Aficionados al cine, prefieren ver la película en el idioma original porque consideran que al escuchar las voces propias de los artistas se capta mejor el sentido que el director quiso dar a la producción y se valora más el trabajo de los guionistas y de los intérpretes. Dentro de este grupo se encuentran también muchos jóvenes que están aprendiendo un idioma o que ya lo dominan y a quienes les interesa ver películas en V.O. para reforzar su aprendizaje.

Otro sector importante de público es la gente de otras ciudades españolas, que aprovecha los fines de semana para disfrutar en Madrid de las películas en V.O. que no puede ver en sus lugares de residencia. Otro de los atractivos que ofrecen estas salas, para madrileños y turistas, es que en ellos se pueden ver películas que están retiradas oficialmente de la cartelera desde hace tiempo.

Aunque en los últimos tiempos las salas en versión original están incorporando algunas grandes producciones de éxito de fuera y de dentro de España, su gran atractivo es que proyectan películas de cine alternativo difíciles de ver en las salas tradicionales, más centradas en los circuitos comerciales, pero que han tenido éxito en festivales de cine importantes.

El caché
El caché es de fabricación casera y esta situado en una zona con muchos muggles, frente al cine. Pido discreción para evitar posibles expolios. Puede que tengas que utilizar pinzas para extraer el libro de registro. Por favor, fijar bien el libro en su bolsa y su contenedor.
