Geocache Description:

When you stand between two huge mountains, everything looks small

The two greatest features on the historic Saddle Road are the mountain giants, Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa. These two mountains along with Kilauea, Kohala, and Hualalai, helped built Hawaii Island. Hawaii Island is so big that the rest of the major Hawaiian islands can fit in it;s land area almost twice.

The cache is hidden just pass the 28th mile marker, on the Mauna Loa side. The parking area is right at the
an emergency call box marked by it's blue color. Here the landscape is smooth with the pahoehoe lava. A short walk will take you to the GZ. Please be aware that the lava rocks are brittle in some spots, and cracks that can twist an ankle can appear out of nowhere.Take your time and remember to always be aware of your surroundings. If you are lucky like we were on the day of placement, you will have a fantastic view of both giants,, as well as cinder cones in the distance,on the Kona side, and the "Hairy Hill" cache cinder cone on the Hilo side, so bring a camera.

Please keep the area clean and replace the cache just as you found it or better.
PLEASE NO SPOILERS...aloha and happy caching

Mahalo to melelina....FTF!
