Geocache Description:

I am a teacher at Neyland Pupil Referral Unit and I am working with 3 classes of pupils aged 11-14 to help them achieve their John Muir Award.

http://www.jmt.org/jmaward-home.asp. We have been out geocaching around Pembrokeshire as part of the award and the pupils have become so interested in it, they asked if they could do their caches.

This is the second of two caches that we have put out on a circular walk in Hook, South Pembrokshire.

Hook, near Haverfordwest, was once the hub of the county’s thriving mining industry. Dozens of small pits where dotted around the green fields there today, extracting anthracite or "Black Diamonds". The pit closed in 1959. Almost nothing remained to indicate where it was, until now.

You can see the remains of the mining shafts on this circular walk as you search for the cache. There is another cache further back along the path called Breezy Bomb.

You can park near the chapel at the start of Lower Quay Road in Hook. Use the postcode SA62 4LL to find it. The path starts at the entrance to the chapel car park.

The cache is a big tub covered in camouflage to blend in with the dark surroundings. There is room for lots of swaps and there is a pen and notebook inside. Please leave travel bugs if you wish.

The pupils will love to have people find their cache! I am so proud of them So happy hunting!
