Geocache Description:

Placed with Kind Permission of the Bradgate Park Trust

This Cache is situated on the edge of historic Charnwood and within the National Forest, Bradgate Park is open to visitors on every day of the year – from 7.45am until dusk. Parking in five different car parks situated at key locations around the boundary of the Estate. The main entrance is in the village of Newtown Linford (by the church). Follow the extensive network of paths to get off the beaten track and explore.

BRADGATE PARK is Leicestershires largest Country Park and most popular visitor attraction, extending to some 830 acres and welcoming 900,000 visitors every year. Steeped in History, the Park was the birthplace and early home of Lady Jane Grey - 9 days Queen of England. This historic deer park is still grazed by herds of Red and Fallow Deer that roam freely within the boundary walls.

This cache is not far from one of the many paths through Bradgate Park - but could be more difficult to find in summer when the bracken is high.

Note that 'serious bushwacking' through bracken is NOT NECESSARY if you find the right path!

*** TICK ALERT - as in most places where deer graze, ticks are present and can be picked up easily if pushing through vegetation. The cache can be reached without needing to push through the tall bracken. For more advice on ticks (and what to do), there are many links on the web - one is given here - www.ramblers.org.uk/info/practical/safety.html ***
