This cache is placed in the market town of Oakengates, and the Shrewsbury to Wolverhampton railway line runs through here.
A nice cache for commuters to pass some time while waiting for a train.
This cache is placed in the market town of Oakengates, and the Shrewsbury to Wolverhampton railway line runs through here. Oakengates like many other small towns in this area was at the centre of the industrial revolution and in an ideal location to make the most of its abundance of wood, coal and iron.
Local attractions include: The Place - Oakengates Theatre, Oakengates Leisure Centre as well as several traditional pubs.
A quick hop on the train takes you to Telford Central Station in one direction and Wellington Station in the other.
Oakengates will soon host its first carnival since 1985 so we thought this would also be a nice place for a cache for any new visitors to the area.
The cache contains a log book and swappables. This cache was placed by Wilkos3 and 4oakes. Both families recently discovered the world of geocaching and have enjoyed many fun weekends out with the geokids, so we are now hoping this will be the first of a Wilkoakes series.
