The Four Seasons Adventure Trail (a.k.a. the Newport/Dover–Foxcroft Rail-Trail) runs between Newport and Dover-Foxcroft, linking five towns, two rivers, three lakes and a range of pristine landscapes. Extending from State Route 7 in Newport to its northern terminus near Fairview Street in Dover-Foxcroft, the corridor is used by hikers, bicyclists, cross-country skiers, dogsledders, equestrians, snowmobilers and ATV riders. An alternative route between the towns of Newport, Corinna, Dexter, Sangerville and Dover-Foxcroft, the trail also links to the central Maine Interconnected Trail System. Despite busy weekends, the trail affords a very pleasant mountain bike trek, with plenty of side trips and places to stop for provisions. In summer, watch for the many humps and dips in the soft surface, which puddle after excessive rains. The trail borders lakes and streams and traverses farmland, woodland and wetland areas. In Newport, the trail briefly skirts the shore of Sebasticook Lake and its charming lakeside residences. Farther along, where the trail crosses State Route 7/11 in Corinna, an intriguing antique shop, general store and café provide local color and a relaxing diversion. Rejoining the trail, you'll glimpse the east branch of the Sebasticook River.
