This cache is part of the River Trail Cache Series hidden in Wings section of South Branch Reservation. When you hike along Raritan River on a summer day you have a pretty good chances to see people going down the river on canoes or kayaks. The river in most parts is relatively shallow, however, there are deeper spots too and this cache is hidden close to one of them that is ofent frequented by local youth on hot days. It reminds me of a story I heard many years ago that a girl swimming in Raritan River began to sink. A man working nearby tried to rescue her but both perished. I guess sometimes it's just a lot safer to simply watch the river flow...
