Geocache Description:

Off of Elm Rock Road (York T36), park east of the bridge over Monday Creek. No need to go anywhere near the creek.

From 1842 to 1875, the Hocking Canal passed over Monday Creek in a wooden trough supported by stone piers that are still here and can be seen in wintertime.  A flood in 1875 did irreparable damage to the canal between Athens and Nelsonville.  The aqueduct was dismantled and the timbers sold.   Container is small.
After the aqueduct was removed, the Monday Creek Traction Company crossed Monday Creek here on a steel trestle from 1890 to 1920 using the same piers as the canal aqueduct.

Congratulations to Apparition Cacher and limpid green & white on first to find.
