Geocache Description:

Park at the red gate at 19.309/9.121 and walk or ride your fat tire bike down the flat gravel road to the cache.

This cache is named for the kid I met along this road once who came out here with his fishing rod and a container of nightcrawlers and left with a healthy catfish. Brings back memories of my childhood, fishing the murky waters of south Arkansas with the ever-reliable earthworm and almost always landing a mudcat. This particular catch, however, was an accidental snag, but a catch is a catch. The biggest catfish I ever caught was in the clear waters of the Illinois River in Washington County. I walked a mile in to that special place, and caught the fish with a nightcrawler. I estimate between 10-15 lbs, which is small for deep water cats, but big enough that I didn't want to bother toting him out a mile. No camera, so you'll just have to take my word for it. If you pay attention here and walk slowly on the road, you are likely to see catfish, carp and gar swimming in the shallow water right next to the bank. Chances are they will see you first and swirl away, making strange noises as they escape.
