It is time for GeoFest In The Parks 2014 which will be held at the posted coordinates within Chewalca State Park. The event will begin at 10:00 am on March 1, 2014.

The event is a partnership with Alabama State Parks and the geocaching community. We will also be celebrating the 75th anniversary of Alabama State Parks along with the second annual GeoFest In The Parks this year, so come out and enjoy the great outdoors. It will be another weekend full of events and fun for all beginning on Friday, so make sure to check other events published for this weekend.

This event will be the main event and will have many activities during the day which will include games, door prizes, geocaches, geocoins, food and drinks as well as some other things being planned.

This is the schedule for this event:
10:00 AM – Main Event
 Meet & greet old and new friends – don’t forget to sign the log book!
 Refreshments - coffee, hot chocolate and water
 Geocoins, pathtags and tee shirts will also be available
 Visit the GxProxy booth
 Silent Auction - Items will be displayed and open for bidding (bidding closes at 2:00 PM)
 Take a Spin on the Pathtag Wheel (open until 1:30 PM)
10:15 AM – Poker Run
 Short poker run will be in the area so put the car keys away!
 Instructions and rules for the run to be given out at event
10:45 AM – Find Me If You Can!
 “Wait if you can”. This is EVIL!
 Instructions and rules for this evilness to be given out at event
11:45 AM – What Was It?
 Join us at the pavilion for all the details!
12:00 Noon – Lunch at the Pavilion
 Menu: hamburgers, hotdogs and chips
 Drinks: lemonade, water, coffee and hot chocolate
 Dessert: chocolate and vanilla cake. Rumors have it, she’ll be back – but insists you use your own fork!
1:30 PM – Let’s Make a Deal
 Door Prizes given out in WoodNutt’s version of the original Let’s Make a Deal
2:30 PM – Alabama State Parks 75th Anniversary
 Recognition of the park system’s anniversary, their longevity and continued support of Geocaching
3:00 PM – ASP Diamond Treasure Chest Challenge
 A new Alabama State Park challenge to celebrate their 75th Anniversary
 Challenge will consist of eight unique caches at eight different state parks
 Download and print a passbook to stamp with a special stamp found within each of the 8 caches
 Once the passbook is completed, you must figure out where to go to turn in the passbook
 Receive the trackable geocoin - which is only available to those completing this challenge
 There will be only 75 coins available so only the first 75 to complete the challenge will receive one
 Challenge will begin at this event! All necessary information will be available to begin the challenge before being published by GroundSpeak so come on out and get a head start!
