I have always felt that a good cache needed to be a great walk, with a gorgeous view, in a beautiful area. This is nothing like that. Just an area that I grew up in, on the Western Hill, in the years after WWII . An area that had many tin roofed ramshackled homes, and old trailers with wheels removed. Many of these homes did not have running water or hydro. It was a different time.
There are several routes to get to this cache. By far, the simplest is the jogging/bicycle trail along the 12 mile creek. It can be accessed from Glendale Ave. or Hainer St. It is the longest, but the easiest. My way is straight down the hill from the intersectng bend of Hillview Rd., where it meets Bailey St. This is quite short with an even shorter mild bushwack to the cache. This hill is the reason the cache was placed . A bunch of us west end monsters would race our homemade carts down this hill for hours on end or 'til one of us was hurt enough to quit for the day, or the battered up carts simply weren't capable of another run. If you do choose this route, please stop for a few seconds on the steepest part of the hill. You may just hear the laughter and screams from some of my boyhood chums that are now racing on the big hill in the sky. The hill itself would change the dificulty rating to a 2.5 but 2 is probably a good average because the jogging trail is a cakewalk. FTF gets you bragging rights only. In fact, it's so quiet down there that you are free to yell, Booyah, or Bazinga, or Kowabunga etc.,as long or as often as you like.
