Although the view of the port at the top end of the beach often puts people off, you only need to follow the gravel road south to find isolation. The water here is shallow for a long way out, so it's great for toddlers and those who just want to float aimlessly. The prevailing wind is South Westerly though, so be careful if it's blowing strongly as it pushes you further out to sea, you don't want to float aimlessly under a cruise ship!
There are two small salt lakes here in the area behind the beach and many wading birds can be seen in season including flamingoes of course.
If you drive all the way to the bottom of the road you encounter a barbed wire fence which is the perimeter of RAF Akrotiri. If you get your timing right you might, just might see The Red Arrows practising above you. The huge salt flats here are popular with teenagers having fun doing donuts in their cars or riding trial bikes and there's a model aircraft club that meets here in the little shed in the middle.
If you intend to drive across the salt flats toward "View from Below" and "Meowth, Garfield, Sylvester and Tom", stick to the 'shiny' paths (waymark) and keep at about 25kph and you should be ok. It gets a bit soft in the wet season though, so if you're not confident then don't chance it.
Cache is a small tupperware. This was the first one I placed on this beach (the original) but it proved so popular I decided to make it a series.
