Le chemin de fer à voie étroite était en service de 1882 à 1955. La ligne de 27 km de longueur entre Luxembourg et Remich avec un arrêt à Mondorf-les-Bains, bien sûr. Mais cette gare qui se trouvait à l'endroit même de la cache était aussi le terminus de la ligne internationale venant de Thionville.
Le train qui circulait sur la ligne LUX-REMICH était connu sous le nom de 'Jangeli'
