MOS 1802


MOS 1802 is the United States Marine Corps (USMC) Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) code for Tank Officer.

Complete the Armor Officer Basic Course, Ft. Knox, KY. (Note: 1802s that graduate from an MIAI qualification course at Ft. Knox, will become MIA1 qualified.) Non-MOS qualified reserve officers may be certified as 1802 upon completion of an authorized three-phased training. Phase 1 and 2 are combined into a twenty-one day attendance at the Marine Corps MIAI Reserve Tank Commander/Gunner Course (MCRTCGC), Ft. Knox, KY. Phase 3 is home station completion of an MOJT package administered by the Inspector-Instructor. The Bn I and I may certify USMCR officer upon completion of phase 3 and satisfactory demonstration of core skills as set forth in the Individual Training Standards while occupying a billet requiring the AMOS via the OccFld manager.

Some things to remember when doing this series

* This is a hiking series. There are dirt roads/washes that will get you close.
* There are 421 caches. 401 prescription bottles hanging in bushes & 20 ammo cans.
* The Geoart is approximately 6 x 6 miles (36 sq miles) – count on being out here a while.
* Let someone know you are out here and when to expect to hear from you.
* This is the desert; home to many animals. Please take care of it.
* Carry out what you take in, don’t leave anything behind.
* Make sure you have plenty of water and snacks.
* Don't rely on good cell phone coverage.

* Most important of all --> Have fun! <--
