Social media and social networking sites have brought the promotion of celebrities to a new level. Fans can now interact with their favourite celebrities (to a degree) and receive responses – these responses are often from the celebrity’s “people” but the response still has their idol’s name on it!
I had one of these interactions on the 13th of December, 2012.
I sent a birthday message to the celebrity this cache is named after – a photograph of the sign you will see at the cache – in the hope that I would maybe receive a response. I didn’t. :(
Realistically, I’m sure my message would have been lost amongst over 20,000,000 other messages that day – this celebrity had over 21 million followers on one social networking site at that time and now has 29.8 million followers at the time this cache was placed!
This cache celebrates the technological advancements that allow us to send instant messages to celebrities.
This section of road is gazetted as a Road Train Route. Please park in “the” side road and take care crossing the highway.
