Alexander the Great never lost a battle. In only 12 years, he acquired an empire that stretched from Greece to India. At twenty, Alexander became king of Macedon. He had a brilliant military brain, courage, and personal authority. The Macedonians were armed with swords and thrusting spears. They wore broad metal helmets that gave good all-round vision. Their body armor consisted of a metal breastplate called a cuirass.
