During the Summer of 2013, the AIM organization in Omaha, Nebraska held one of their Summer Academies for Youth at the Strategic Air & Space Museum. The primary activity for the week was to create a scientific experiment that would be launched aboard a "High Altitude Balloon;" a vehicle that would take the payload high into the stratosphere, later to be recovered and analyzed. As part of the entire experience, the students took part in a variety of team-building exercises (like spaghetti tower building and an EGGxtreme Egg Drop), model rocket building, and GPS orienteering via Geocaching. At the end of the week, their balloon was launched and traveled over 67,000 feet up, and landed 59 miles away.
As a memento of their wonderful experience, and their newfound interest in geocaching, the students hid this cache on museum property. When you remove the lid, look underneath, and you will find a signature of each of the students in this AIM Summer Academy. They hope you enjoy the hunt!
