Geocache Description:

This small but lovely grade II listed church is a stone’s throw from the busy town centre, Town Hall and library.  It is close to bus stops and has good parking (free on Sundays).  There is no pen in the cache so make sure you have one with you, there is no room for stickers etc.

The original St Edward the Confessor church was situated in the market place where there is now an Anglican church of the same name.  This Roman Catholic village church was built in 1856 and designed in a 13th century English Gothic style. It was one of the first Roman Catholic churches in South East Essex at this time and served a wide area.
